Busumbala, The Gambia – February 25, 2023 – Muhammed Dibbasey, a poet, spoken word artist, and entrepreneur, has had four short films of his poetry accepted into the Lift-off Sessions Film Festival in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. The films, titled “Sleepless Nights,” “They Say,” “Attitude,” and “I Like Words,” are part of Dibbasey’s first short film collection, “OBAFA,” which was released worldwide on YouTube on February 25, 2023.

“I am honored to have my short films accepted into the Lift-off Sessions Film Festival,” said Dibbasey. “This is a great opportunity to share my work with a wider audience and to connect with other filmmakers from around the world.”

OBAFA” is a collection of four spoken word poems that express a message of hope, frustration, the struggle to find opportunity, and the impact of Gambia’s history of the slave trade and colonialism. The films were produced by Cellular Vibrations, a digital marketing agency started by Dibbasey with the support of MaximillianGroup from San Diego, California. The two companies together, also recently formed a record label and talent management company to promote the music, poetry, and film of young artists.

Dibbasey is a 24-year-old Gambian who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. He is the executive producer of the Gambia’s fastest-growing performance event, Grab Di Mic. He also started a record label and talent management agency, and a premier digital marketing agency Cellular Vibrations, representing some of the top hip-hop, afrobeat, and afro-pop performers in the Gambia. Soon he will launch West Africa’s first social, streaming music website dedicated to West African music. He has made his own opportunity.

“I believe that everyone has the potential to be successful,” said Dibbasey. “But it is how you step up and Grab Di Mic that determines your success.”

Dibbasey is an inspiration to young people in the Gambia and around the world. He is proof that anything is possible if you set your mind to it.

“OBAFA” is available to watch now on YouTube or as audio on BandCamp, SoundCloud and Audiomack.
